HYPNOTHERAPY SESSION OUTLINE

WHAT TO EXPECT

When you enter our clinic you will be greeted by either Philip or Robyn and shown to the therapy room.

You will be seated in a comfortable chair so that you can relax and begin discussing the problem.

What hypnotherapy is and what it does will be fully explained.

We will take detailed notes and together will decide exactly what you would like the session outcome to be. Sometimes there is more than one problem but we just focus on one at a time.

Each session is designed to meet your personal needs to ensure the best possible outcome.

Now that you are comfortable and relaxed you are ready for us to commence the session.

1. You will go through a Progressive Muscle Relaxation.

2. You will be induced into an altered state of awareness as your brainwaves naturally change         from Beta to Alpha.

3. The identified problem will be addressed and a post hypnotic suggestion will be given to the       subconscious mind. This will be repeated after the session.

4. You will emerge from hypnosis wide awake and refreshed.

3 things you need to know about Hypnotherapy

  1. It is NOT mind control

  2. It is NOT daydreaming, imagining or visualising

  3. It IS an altered focused state of awareness.

MYTH

A hypnotherapist has complete control over you

You have to be in a deep state of trance for hypnosis to work

FACT

Nobody can control you; YOU are in complete control

It is normal to hear and remember everything in a hypnotherapy session

What can Hypnotherapy do?

Briefly stated: Hypnotherapy allows direct access to the subconscious mind. A state of hypnosis occurs as the person transitions from the Beta brainwave state (fully awake) into the Alpha brainwave state (deeply relaxed), a naturally occurring transition when you drift off to sleep and when you begin to wake from sleep.

The Subconscious mind

  • It records everything

  • Is always alert and awake

  • Controls 95% of our lives

  • Is built on habits and repetition

  • Has no verbal language

  • Speaks to you in dreams

  • Can perform a trillion tasks at once

  • Is not logical, it is a feeling mind

  • Is a million times more powerful than the conscious mind

  • Controls your body

  • Takes everything literally(doesn’t know the difference between what is real and what is imagined

This last point is what really matters when it comes to clinical hypnotherapy. Post-hypnotic suggestions that are planted in the subconscious mind during hypnotherapy are like seeds that germinate and grow, the subconscious believing that these suggestions are indeed fact.

Once the subconscious believes, it can act and direct suggested outcomes.

Why does it work?

The suggestibility takes place within the subconscious mind. Taking everything literally the subconscious doesn’t know the difference between what is real and what is imagined)
